Powered By Women

November 2nd, 2005

Watching a news segment the other day - claimed women make up a good percentage (sorry can’t remember the number) of technology consumers. Note the emphasis is on consumers not buyers. As a technology buff and ahem all woman ;-) I’m not quite sure what to make of this. Yes I’m happy more women are into technology and gadgets but on the other hand I’m a bit saddened. Why are women so afraid of technology? I meet such women often and mind you they are far from incapable. Many of them smart, successful and can take on the world. They can do math in their sleep, figure out how to fix change their tires, fix things around the house, sit in a boardroom full of men, build downlines hundreds of people large but deathly afraid to explore a podcast or utilize a cool feature on their cell phones. Just the way most of us are wired I suppose.

Now … we don’t know just what the heck this design is suppose to accomplish other than holding your expensive Treo 650 up in an optimum position to get its screen totally wasted … but if that’s what rocks you, you can have it for $24.95.

Moto Q - coming ‘atcha, Treo

July 27th, 2005

So okay you guys - got the skinny yet on Motorola’s wannabe Treo killer, the simply named Q?

The Q will be one of the first (if not the first by time of availability Q4 2005) mobile phone with a built-in keyboard to run Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone edition, thereby earning it the “smartphone” tag - which also means that it will not have a touchscreen display. But a mighty fine-looking display it is, all 320×240 pixels of TFT-LCD tech in landscape orientation. Actual physical dimensions are unknown for now.

Case/holster for your Treo 650

July 22nd, 2005

We are paranoid about protection for our expensive gadgets, even from minor grit scratches. That’s why we use anti-static wipes for the exteriors.

Aren’t you? :-P

If you are only half as nuts as we are on cases and whatnots to deter microscopic damage to your Treo 650 (especially if you work primarily outdoors) you might want to check out SpeckProducts’ Tough.Skin and Skin.Tight cases+holsters.

PNY 1 GB SD under $50

July 3rd, 2005

About time for another under-$50 1GB SD card, this time from PNY over at TigerDirect.com for $49.99 after a $20 MIR which will expire come July 30.

We are just wondering, when will 1GB SD’s just be sold below $50 regularly? Aren’t these things supposed to drop prices, especially when 512MB is commonplace and 1GB becoming quite a natural upgrade (some even as the first card)?

We just look forward to it being available in the market: when, when?
