Meet the Rambo PDA

Tuesday, October 19th, 2004

Looks a lot like a beefed-up, Darth Vader version of the HP iPAQ 4000 series, don’t they?
Well these are the newly-introduced Symbol MC50 Pocket PC handhelds. Besides its toughened-up construction, it one-ups the iPAQ 4000 series by way of a faster Intel Xscale 520MHz processor, built-in VoIP services, and runs on Windows Mobile 2003 Second [...]

OQO Model 01 out for sale

Tuesday, October 19th, 2004

Okay … OQO finally delivers commercial availability of their uPC, the Model 01. CNET Reviews has a review on it.

Priced at $1,900.00 it’s definitely not pocket change, and coupled with the fact that notebooks and its sub/mini variants’ prices have dropped like hot lead over the year - we really wouldn’t know for sure [...]

Axim X50 series out on Dell.com

Tuesday, October 12th, 2004

Here you go … Dell has updated their website to show off their latest Axim X50 series handhelds. Pictured here is the Axim X50v (624MHz) model.
Knock yourself out reading all the nitty-gritty: All of them sound good to us … but nothing revolutionary in PDA build these days, including the expected VGA screen on the [...]

Dell Axim X50 pics & expected pricing

Sunday, October 10th, 2004

While some of us might not agree with the image that’s used to highlight the new Dell Axim X50’s top ‘o’ the line VGA screen, but engagdet has the real deal in a picture including its specs which we must say are extremely compelling and up-to-date.
3 versions will be available, all with the same exterior [...]

Friday, October 8th, 2004

We don’t know about this … but Overstock Auctions has a listing for brand-new Dell Axim x30 624MHz units going for only $250.00 apiece with free shipping within the US. Might be worth checking out but check the seller-dude out first right.

Extra: “10% Off Axim 624MHz X30 Handhelds! And also save 10% on handheld accessories [...]

Secure Digital is below $50.00 too

Friday, October 8th, 2004

Be careful what you wish for … We just found out that Buy.com is also offering the big $30.00 MIR on its Lexar Media 1GB Secure Digital Card - bringing its price down to $49.99. Sweet. Now everyone with a PDA capable of storage expansion could enjoy 1GB (except the Sony CLIEs, that is.)

CompactFlash deal

Friday, October 8th, 2004

For those of us who are still CF-equipped to the hilt with our PDAs and digital cameras, this is something worth checking out: Buy.com is offering the Lexar Media 1GB CF Card for only $46.99 after a big $30.00 MIR. The offer expires 10/09/04 so better hurry if you want it.
First time we saw a [...]

Enfora updates product

Friday, October 8th, 2004

Enfora has updated their WiFi solution for the Tungsten E to accomodate the Zire 72. Both of them share the same mini-USB connector so that’s not a bit deal (to our simple minds, that is.)
We think that Enfora is missing the boat here with the design of wireless solutions for the desperately WiFi-lliterate palmOne handhelds [...]

palmOne deal nuggets

Thursday, October 7th, 2004

Did you know that the Palm Store maintains a goodie bag of deals consistently throughout the year? This page shows it all.
Do note that some if not all of them come with small-print details and you are best advised to read through the ones of the deals you intend to take up. (We can’t link [...]

New Treos to have Exchange sync

Tuesday, October 5th, 2004

CNET News.com has a report that palmOne has licensed Microsoft’s Exchange ActiveSync synchronization tool to be built into future versions of Treo smartphones’ OS package. We doubt that it’ll appear on the upcoming Treo 650 release, though.
Everyone including CNET seems to be caught up with the buzz that Microsoft and palmOne are rivals - which [...]
