World’s smallest Smartphone already shipping

That’s the big news today folks, according to HTC’s earnings call spotted at PPCW.Net and Smartphone Thoughts, is that HTC has begun shipping its latest Smartphone dubbed the C500 or E500 (HTC codename Typhoon) this month.

It goes on further to say that it’ll be sold in Europe, the US, and Asia - making US prospective buyers extremely happy. The C500 is a candybar-shaped Smartphone running Microsft’s Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone Second Edition OS. It is being offered in the UK by Orange as part of its Signature phone series for 100 Pounds Sterling with contract. Prices elsewhere are yet to be announced in US or Europe; Asia would most likely see it sold without subsidies from mobile phone retail outlets although some carriers might pick it up.

For some insight and pictures of the C500/E500, have a look at MoDaCo Smartphone, mtekk.com.au, and MSMobileNews.com.

Looks like this phone’s going head-on with the Motorola MPx220 flip-style Smartphone; which dropped its candybar-styled MPx100 from production at the last minute.
