New JavoSkin for the Zire 72, tip for nitpickers
Alright; enough of the peeling Zire 72 hoo-ha already.
JavoEdge should be lauded for its latest product; the JavoSkin for the palmOne Zire 72. Due out for sale 19 August 2004 at a promotional price of $28.95 this skintight case should almost be the ultimate protection against peeling, scuffing and chipping on the Zire 72’s fragile blue soft coating.
We say almost because there is still one part of the device that’ll still lose it’s blue coat - the edges surrounding the stylus silo opening. It gets handled umpteen times while removing/inserting the stylus. Even if you are extremely careful avoiding touching the coating with your fingertips, the physical abrasion of the stylus removal/insertion itself will leave the opening edges raw.
If you the nitpicky type, you might want to try out this suggestion to keep what’s left of the coating around that part (or any other part peeling) intact: Coat the raw, exposed patch and a generous part of its surrounding area with clear nail polish. Let it dry naturally; do not force-dry!
ONE application would suffice; get it right the first time because removing nail polish will likely remove the blue coating too. A very good idea before applying it on your Zire 72 itself, is to test your stroke and amount of nail polish you got on the brush on another surface -your own pinky nail would be good … If you are hopeless in nail polish application, get someone’s who’s good at it …
Please note that this is only a suggestion: Use your own discretion because we are definitely not going to be held responsible if anything messes up (in which we don’t see how it would.) Good luck!
