Yonah teams up with Golan, sits on Napa
What the … These are the very colorful codenames Intel is fond of giving its future products. Yonah is the next-generation dual-core processor for notebooks, Golan is the wireless chipset that will team with it, and Napa is the mainboard designed for these two buddies to sit on.
In short, these three make up the third-generation successor to Sonoma; itself a second-generation Centrino bundle in notebooks.
Intel has been very aggresive in promoting its core notebook products. We would like to see them get on treadmill for its PDA processors; its latest in that department was the Xscale 624MHz unit which is nothing but a clock speed boost over previous chips on so yesterday’s MMX technology.
Now that multicore processors are the thing for Intel, why not extend that to the PDA chips too? At least give us your HT (hyper-threading) tech, guys!
